Palermo Airport to Trapani details

Trapani has its own airport at Birgi but during November this will be closed for runway improvements. Therefore the frequency of coach services between Trapani and Palermo Airport will be increased, but until now definite information about it has been elusive. At last the November timetable is available. There are 4 coaches a day instead of 2:

pullman

The new departure at 15:30 is handy because it means that if your morning flight is a little late and you miss the 12:30 coach, you can get the 15:30 coach and arrive at Trapani Porto in time for the last aliscafo of the day to Marettimo:

aliscafo

Some extra notes: the Italian for 'coach' is 'pullman'; Trapani Porto is the terminus ('capolinea'); the coach leaves you just across the road from the Liberty Lines aliscafo booking kiosk, where you get single tickets for Marettimo (there is no advantage in getting return tickets).

There are three Egadi islands: Favignana and Levanzo are the two inner islands and Marettimo is the outer island. The aliscafo will call at one or both inner islands on the way to Marettimo, so make sure when getting off that you have the right island. Weather in November is unpredictable. Much depends on the wind, and there is a rich cultural play of the eight winds. If you learn the names of these winds you will be well set to discuss the weather which is at least as much a subject of conversation in Marettimo as it is in England.
